In my blog posting of July 8th I noted that employees in Japan may be required to pay more into the national health care system if the waistlines of employees, their families and retirees exceed the government’s limits of 33.5 inches for men and 35.4 inches for women. I said it would be a matter of time before this trend hit the US and I was right.

Yesterday, on MSNBC.com it was reported that the state of Alabama has given their employees one year to slim down or pay up. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26341627/

I hope that those of you who are employed by the state of Alabama have already taken my advice to toss the chips! I’m now cleaning out my pantry, just in case the food police drop by unannounced.
