- While employers are looking the other way, candidates have time to head out the door and swing by for an interview or two. No one is going to question the guy or gal who gets all dolled up for work the day of the office party. In fact, the boss won’t suspect a thing when Bobby shows up that day in his “interview suit.”
- Lots of companies put their job requisitions on hold until the start of the new year. This is a perfect opportunity for your firm to stand out from what typically becomes a crowded field in January. Now suppose for a moment that you won’t have the budget to add someone to payroll until January 1st. It will take at least a month to go through the hiring process to find the right candidate for your firm. Let’s not forget about the two week notice that most employed people will need to give their employers.
- You can also find talent at your own holiday party. Some companies allow employees to bring guests. These guests may indeed be what you are looking for and they already have a connection to your company.
- It’s taking considerably longer to hire people so why not begin now? According to a recent survey by Dice, Nearly four in 10 companies (39%) report longer timelines for employee acquisition — based on a dearth of qualified candidates (60%) and an abundance of caution brought on by economic uncertainty (26%). This difficulty finding the right people to fill positions comes even as a clear majority of companies surveyed (55%) report getting more applications for open positions than compared to the previous six months.
