The New England Aquarium of Boston welcomed four new comers today. One of these penguins is special. His name is Lion and he was cared for by surrogate parents after he was abandoned by his parents. Who knew life could be so cruel for a penguin?
Two biologists, employed by the Aquarium, brought Lion home every night to care for him. They hand fed him and cared for him as if he were one of their own. This gives a whole new meaning to taking your job home with you.
How many of your employees are so passionate about their work that they would do whatever it takes to ensure the survival of your organization? I am not saying employees should do this on a regular basis. But if they had to, would they willingly go above and beyond what is expected to ensure your organization thrives? If you cannot quickly identify many who would then you have some soul searching to do. I bet the New England Aquarium could name at least two employees if asked this same question.
