I received some exciting news today from my forty-something job search client in NJ. This week alone, she connected with several people who have the ability to get her resume in front of hiring managers, who by the way, actually have positions to fill. What could be better than this?

You may be wondering exactly how she did this. Well, she did what I showed her how to do. She is now using Linked-in like she’s been using it her whole life. She’s making purposeful connections and then is looking closely at the recommended connections. Much to her surprise, people who she has totally forgotten about are coming back into her life. They have accepted her invitation, have conversed with her via e-mail and have offered to be a referral source if she sees any openings on the website where they work. And guess what? They have openings that are perfect for her. Her resume, along with their personal endorsements are on the desks of hiring managers.
