New Year’s Resolutions

I'm making only one New Year's resolution this year. I suggest you do the same. My resolution is to not make any resolutions this year. Why? Because New Year's resolutions don't work. Research shows that 80% of all people who make resolutions fall off the wagon by Valentine's Day. I'm not surprised by this statistic, are you? Life changes are hard and even more so when we try to go at it alone.

Pull out the sheet of paper where you recorded this year's resolutions and see how you fared. Did you lose the 20 pounds you swore you would shed? Did you finally tell that lousy boss of yours what she could do with your job? Did you begin the Master's program you promised yourself you would commit to? Did you ask for the raise you promised yourself you would ask for? I'm guessing that most of you answered "no."

I'm going to suggest this year that you do something different. Identify one area of your life that you would like to improve and write this down. Pick something big so you will see a noticeable difference in your life. Now identify one person or an organization that can help you achieve this goal. Keep this piece of paper handy so you can refer to it from time to time. Now resolve to reach your goal and let me know if you need some help along the way!

Have a happy and healthy New Year!
