First Impressions Matter

Yesterday, I walked into a company and was greeted by the Director of First Impressions. That’s right. This is the job title for the person who was sitting at the front desk greeting guests. I was impressed. I had the opportunity to chat with the woman behind the desk. She was outgoing and friendly and took her job quite seriously. She knew that she mattered.

All too often we throw the first body that comes in the door into a job like this, which requires a great deal of skill. Many times, we lock this person up behind a glass plate so that no one can steal her. At least that’s what it appears like to me. First impressions matter and if you don’t believe me, then go visit the Director of First Impressions and you will see what I mean.
