Are Your Policies Just Plain Stupid?

I'm an active participant on an HR Forum where HR people hang out and ask questions. The other day, someone posted a question regarding workplace dress, specifically relating to an establishment in the hospitality industry. I about fell off my rocker when the following was posted:

"We do not allow any, other than the wedding band…plain wedding band no dimonds {sic}! We don't have a policy on tattoos…"

So, I guess I won't be able to work there because I wear a custom made wedding band that has some diamonds and a few rubies thrown in for good luck. I mean really people, how stupid is this? How many good applicants are being turned down by this establishment because they have been given a unique ring? Don't even get me started on the tattoo thing…

What's the stupidist employment policy you've ever seen? I think this one will be hard to top, but hey, prove me wrong!
