A Message to Every CEO, Senior Executive and Business Owner

life-preserverI’ve spent the last several days calling into companies to speak with executives and quite frankly, I’m even more sure they need my help than I was when I started making my calls. I was reaching out to follow up on an invitation to attend an invitation only executive breakfast on Creating Your Solar System of Talent. Here is just a sampling of what I experienced.

You already know about the abrupt executive assistant (see yesterday’s blog posting) who most certainly assured that I will never purchase services from the company that happens to be giving her a paycheck. Rudeness does not make her look good, nor does it reflect well on the President of the company who has chosen to keep this person in his employ.

I made several calls today and reached automated attendants that gave me an option to speak to an operator. I pushed the button (more than once) and the phone kept ringing and ringing. Apparently no one is home at these companies.

Then there was the receptionist who informed me that “Ann Marie don‘t work for this company any more.” I thought about ignoring this, but I simply couldn’t. I tried to reach the president of the company to let him know about this, but found it was impossible to find his contact information on the company website. Maybe he don’t (sic) work here any more either. So instead, I sent him a message through Linkedin telling him that I had some information that I’m was sure he’d really want to know about. No reply.

It really doesn’t take much to stand out in business these days. This can be good and bad depending on whether you are standing out for the right reasons or for many of the reasons I listed.

We still have room for a few more senior executives to attend this event. I promise you that you’ll leave the competition even further behind after hearing what I have to share on this topic. E-mail me at Roberta@matusonconsulting.com for an invitation or call me at 413-582-1840. I promise I’ll answer my phone.
